Homemade Wall Organizer

A very long time ago I saw a wall organizer that I instantly fell in love with. However, I did not fall in love with the price tag (it was over $200.00). After a few years of envisioning that beautiful organizer on my wall, I decided that I could totally make one not only very similar, but also way less expensive. So I got to work.

To make a long story short. My beloved wall organizer turned into one of those projects you just do not start. When I finally did start it the steps were very simple, the final product looks great, and I spent WAY less money.

Unfortunately I did not take pictures while creating the organizer. But here is the finished product!

Here it is!!! I love it :)

All decorated. :)

Did I mention I made the thumbtacks as well?

What you will need:

- 8 12" x 12" cork boards (I got 2 packs of 4 from Fred Meyer)
- 4 pieces of wood cut into 12" x 12" squares
- about 2 yards of fabric (you could probably get less, I have leftovers)
- Elmer's craft adhesive (have some newspaper handy to protect your working surface)
- Chalkboard paint
- Primer
- Small pain roller
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Plain, flat thumbtacks (I bought mine at Office Depot)
- Buttons and decorative trinkets for thumbtacks
- Some nails for hanging everything onto the wall

1. I covered four cork boards with the blue fabric. I just sprayed the board with Elmer's craft adhesive and stretched the fabric over top.
2. For the chalk board tiles I had my handy dad cut out four 12" x 12" squares, coated them with primer, then painted with chalkboard paint.
3. To make the thumbtacks I hot glued the buttons and trinkets onto the flat edge of the thumbtacks. Pretty straight forward really ;)
4. When everything was done I hung it on the wall with 1" spaces in between.

I have two leftover chalk boards and fabric covered boards so I will be making a smaller square above my desk.

Please share your pictures of your own wall organizers! I would love to see them!! Have a good Monday everyone! :)
